AUBURN — Ben Allen scattered seven hits and two St. Dominic runners were cut down at home as Winthrop posted a 4-2 win over the previously unbeaten Saints in Mountain Valley Conference baseball action Monday.

The Ramblers cut down one runner at home trying to score on a passed ball in the third and another in the fifth when center fielder Drew Stratton threw out a runner trying to score on a fly ball. Winthrop scored its runs on an error, two ground balls and an RBI single by Jared Hanson.

“It wasn’t like we were ripping the ball,” Winthrop coach Marc Fortin said.

Hanson had two hits for Winthrop (10-2) while Harry Labrie had a pair for St. Dom’s (13-1).
