RICHMOND — Jamie Plummer scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds as defending Western D champion Richmond defeated Greenville 49-21 to win the East/West Conference girls basketball opener for both teams Friday.

Brianna Snedeker added eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Bobcats (1-0).

Michaella Gilbert had 10 points for Greenville (0-1).

Cony 61, Brunswick 50: Hayley Quirion made five 3-pointers and scored 15 points as the Rams won their Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A opener in Brunswick.

Josie Lee added 14 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for Cony. Alyssah Dennett added 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

Lyse Henshaw had 17 points for Brunswick (0-1).

Kents Hill 54, Hebron 20: Sarah Grenier scored a game-high 21 points as the Huskies won their opener in Hebron.

Emma Curnin added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Kents Hill, while Ashley Doyle had 16 points.

Liv Brown scored 15 points for Hebron.

Gardiner 56, Morse 43: Ally Day had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tigers to the KVAC B win in Bath.

Kylee Granholm and Taylor Banister each scored 12 points for Gardiner (1-0).

Morse (0-1) was led by Megan Hixon with 14 points and Signe Ostergaard with 12.

Messalonskee 52, Erskine 43: Kelsey Mayo scored 17 points and Nikki Collier added 14 to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A victory in Oakland. Mayo also grabbed 13 rebounds to finish with the double-double.

Collier had five rebounds while Kassi Michaud had three points and four steals for Messalonskee (1-0).

Bridget Humphrey scored a game-high 23 points for Erskine (0-1). Hannah Bridges added seven points.
