WISCASSET — Two weeks ago, Corey Morgan of Lewiston led the Strictly Street race with three laps to go before mechanical trouble pushed him all the way back to 11th at the finish. On Saturday, Morgan bounced back with his fourth victory of the season at Wiscasset Speedway.

“The car is running great,” Morgan said. “After the problem with the car last time out on the track, I put a new front right wheel bearing on it.”

Morgan had the pole position and led the entire way. Farmington’s Ben Erskine finished second, and Tasha Dyer manuevered from seventh at the start to a third-place showing.

Opie Allard of Harpswell won the 15-lap Mini Trucks race, taking the lead for good after a caution on lap 10. Gerry McKenna held the lead but spun out when Kristopher Knox tried to pass him, causing the caution. Knox settled for fourth, while Jeff Schmidt was second and Ryan Farrar took third.

Justin Trombley won the Outlaw Mini race, but there were a number of changes in the other top spots over the race’s 25 laps. On the first lap, Tim Collins overtook Richmond’s Nate Tribbet for second place. One lap later, Pittston’s Shawn Kimball also passed Tribbet and seized third place.

Jimmy Childs moved into second on lap six, but when he went to the pits with car trouble on lap 15, Kimball moved up to second and Tribbet was third. That’s how the top three ended up.

Matthew Bourgoine of Newport held on to his points lead in the Amsoil Nelcar Legends division by taking second place behind John Peters. Ryan Hammar was six points behind Bourgoine entering the race, but finished 10th. Shawn Buffington, who had to start in 18th place, moved up to fifth by lap 15 and settled for fourth.

In the Late Model Sportsman race, Montville’s Tyler Robbins celebrated his 21st birthday with his first victory of the season. Rookie Alex Waltz of Walploe came in third for his first-ever top three finish, whiule Wiscasset’s Nick Hinkley took second.
