FARMINGDALE -- Olivia Maynard struck out seven to lead the Hall-Dale softball team to a 4-1 Mountain Valley Conference win over Monmouth on Wednesday.
Hall-Dale (3-2) did most of its offensive damage in the fourth inning, collecting three runs.
Kylie Kemp had two hits for Monmouth (2-2), including a double.
Oak Hill 16, Lisbon 1, 5 innings: The Raiders broke a scoreless tie with nine runs in the top of the third inning and went on to win via the mercy rule in Lisbon.
Kortni Michaud pitched a one-hitter and struck out five for the win. Kelsey Collins had three singles and drove in two runs for Oak Hill (3-2). Jamie Prue and Grace Sabine each added two hits.
Kaitlyn Hill struck out five for Lisbon (1-6).
Winthrop 12, Boothbay 0, 5 innings: Dakota Carter had three hits, including a double, as the Ramblers remained unbeaten with an MVC win over the Seahawks in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule in Boothbay.
Zack Steele and winnng pitcher Matt Sekerak each went 2 for 3 for the Ramblers (4-0). Sekerak struck out 10, allowed just one hit and didn't walk a batter.
Messalonskee 7, Cony 5: Aidan Calkins scored two goals to lead a balanced attack as Messalonskee beat Cony in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Tuesday night in Augusta.
Josh Towle scored a goal and two assists for the Eagles.
Ben Weeks, Jordan Holmes, Eric Van Der Karr and Connor Leonard also scored for Messalonskee.
Brandon Surette led Cony with two goals. Kevin Kingsbury had a goal and an assist.
Maine 11, UM-Farmington 1: Eric White had four hits and three RBIs as the Black Bears beat the Beavers in a non-conference game in Orono.
Fran Whitten added three hits and scored three runs for Maine (27-17).
Matthew Woodbury had two his, including a triple, for UMF (9-23). Ben Keene and Zach Keene each added two hits for the Beavers.
