TOPSHAM -- Ben Lucas threw four touchdowns and Brandon St. Michel rushed for two more to lead the Cony football team past Mt. Ararat 57-28 in a Pine Tree Conference Class A game Friday night.
"We played really well, especially in the first half," Cony coach Robby Vachon said. "Offensively, defensively and special teams, we came to play."
The Rams (2-1), who've won two straight, led 21-0 after the first quarter and 43-0 at the half. Most of the starters rested in the second half.
St. Michel rushed for touchdown runs of 15 and 6 yards in the first quarter.
"We opened up some big holes for him," Vachon said. "But he also made a lot of people miss in the open field."
St. Michel then hauled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Lucas later in the first quarter.
Lucas threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter to three different receivers -- Chandler Shostak, Dayshawn Roberts and Taylor Carrier.
"We had talked about what we needed to do to get better," Vachon said, "and we did that. We controlled the tempo."
