WATERVILLE -- Madison rallied from three runs down early to take a 6-4 victory over Post 51 in American Legion Zone 2 Baseball action Friday evening at Colby College.
Left-hander Brandon LeHay pitched a six-hitter for Madison, which moved into second place in the Zone with the win. LeHay struck out five and went the distance.
The 39ers improved to 10-5 with the win, and are now 12-5, as Lincoln County has forfeited today's doubleheader against Madison.
Garrett Emery singled and doubled for Madison. The 39ers added six stolen bases.
Post 51's Brian Bellows was injured in a collision with Emery at the plate while trying to score Post 51's fourth run in the bottom of the first. Post 51 is now 9-6 and in third place in the Zone.
The First 4, Franklin County 3: With the bases empty and two out in the bottom of the seventh, the hosts rallied for three runs to steal a dramatic victory in Rockland.
With two out after a double play in the seventh, pinch-hitter Henry Laurita drew a walk for The First. Jordan Carter followed with a drive to right. Carter ignored his coach's stop sign and barely beat the relay to third for a triple. Joey Chamberlain then beat out a slow roller and went to second on an error as Carter scored to tie the game at 3. Chamberlain tried to steal third, and when the throw went into the outfield, Chamberlain scored the winning run.
Scott Hall had two hits for Franklin County (6-9). Chamberlain had three hits for The First (7-8) has won five out of its last six.
Gardiner 3, Lincoln County 2: Kyle Fletcher tossed a complete-game two-hitter to out-duel Lincoln County's Dalton Leeman in Gardiner.
Fletcher struck out five and walked three to pick up his third win of the season without a loss. Ben Allen doubled twice and singled for Gardiner (6-8).
Leeman gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six. Lincoln County has forfeited today's doubleheader with Madison, so it finished the regular season at 3-15.
