PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gardiner Area High School freshman Peter Del Gallo won the 106-pound title at the New England wrestling championships Saturday.
Del Gallo won the title with a 3-2 victory over Joseph Rossetti of Glastonbury, Conn. in the championship finals.
His brother, Daniel Del Gallo, finished second at 138 pounds, losing in the championship finals 4-3 to Mike Stewart of Dracut, Mass.
Tyler Craig of Skowhegan finished fifth in the 113-pound class.
Winslow's Aaron Lint won three matches at 285 pounds, while Monmouth's Stewart Buzzell (145), Skowhegan's Mikal Federici (170) and Skowhegan's Andrew Pineo (195) each won two matches during the two-day tournament.
Gardiner was the highest finishing Maine team, finishing ninth out of 162 schools.
