HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP: Carver lifts Tigers to win over Hornets

TURNER -- Brittany Carver scored near the midway point of the first half, and the Gardiner girls soccer team hung on to beat Leavitt 1-0 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Thursday.

Carver scored at the 22:35 mark of the first half. Kylee Granholm had an assist and Ally Day had 16 saves to lead Gardiner (7-1-0).

Leavitt dropped to 2-6.

Nokomis 4, Maranacook 0: Lacey Kent-Webber had two assists for the Warriors in their victory over the Black Bears in a KVAC B contest in Nokomis.

Kelsie Richards, Emalie Bailey, Monica Grant and Emily Paige each scored goals for Nokomis (4-3), while Audrey Temple added an assist.

Becky Orcutt made seven saves for the shutout for Nokomis.

Kaitlyn Chick made 10 saves for Maranacook (3-1-2).

Richmond 9, Buckfield 0: Sadie Goss had a goal and five assists to lead the Bobcats past the Bucks in Buckfield.

Amber Loon and Noell Acord each had three goals for Richmond (7-0-0). Payton Johnson and Kelsea Anair also scored for the Bobcats. Kelsi Obi made six saves for the shutout for the Bobcats.

Gabby Therriault had 19 saves for Buckfield (4-3).

Boys soccer

Maranacook 6, Nokomis 0: Kent Mohlar scored two goals to lead the host Black Bears to the KVAC B victory in Readfield.

Maranacook improved to 6-0-0 while Nokomis dropped to 1-5-1.

Richmond 2, Buckfield 0: Eddie Stewart and Randy Moody each scored goals to lead the Bobcats in a Western D game in Buckfield. Nate Tribbett had two assists for Richmond (6-1-0) while Dustin Sullivan needed to make two saves.

Calvin Downey had 15 saves for Buckfield (3-5-0).

Leavitt 3, Gardiner 1: Three different players scored for the Hornets to earn the KVAC B victory in Gardiner.

Christian Fullerton, Tyler Ray and Madison Noel scored for Leavitt (2-6-0).

Keegan Smith had the lone goal for Gardiner. Alex Lapointe had the assist and Ian Lane had nine saves for the Tigers (1-6-1).

Monmouth 1, Carrabec 1: Kyle Fletcher scored an unassisted goal at the 17-minute mark of the second half to help Monmouth earn a tie in a Mountain Valley Conference game.

Kasey Smith had 10 saves for the Mustangs (1-4-3) while Trent Richardson had 15 for Carrabec (2-4-1).

Seth Burns opend the scoring at the 29-minute mark of the second half for the Cobras.

St. Dominic 4, Oak Hill 0: Tyler Furtado had a goal and an assist to lead the Saints in Wales.

It was the third consecutive shutout and fourth overall this season for St. Dominic (8-0-0).

Eric Link, Zak Johnson and Rob Pallozzi also scored for St. Dominic. Will Desmaris added a pair of assists.

Kyle Fields had 19 saves to pace the Raiders (2-5-1).
