BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin scored twice in the final six minutes of regulation on its away to a 3-2 overtime win against rival Colby in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s ice hockey game Saturday at Watson Arena.

Colby (2-4-0, 0-4-0 in the NESCAC) took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Lauren Guarente in the second period. Natalie Fischer scored early in the third to give the Mules a 2-0 lead.

Bowoin (3-1-0, 2-0-0 in the conference) cut the lead to one with 5 minutes, 54 seconds left on a goal by Colleen Finnerty. They tied it on a goal by Katye Holtz with 1:07 left in regulation and won 53 seconds into overtime on a goal by Kenzie Novak.

Boston College 10, Maine 0: Dana Trivigno scored three times as the Eagles cruised to a Hockey East win over the Black Bears in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Kate Leary added a pair of goals, while Ashley Motherwell, Haley Skarupa, Kristina Brown, Melissa Bizzari and Emily Field each added one for BC (10-3-2, 7-2-1 in Hockey East).

Brittany Ott had 17 saves for Maine (2-10-1, 1-8-0 in Hockey East).

Men’s hockey

Bowdoin 5, Colby 2: The Polar Bears scored twice in the first period and twice in the third period to win the 200th meeting between these rivals at Alfond Arena in Waterville.

Harry Matheson, Daniel Weiniger, Rob McGregor, Connor Quinn and Kyle Lockwood all scored for Bowdoin (6-0-1, 3-0-1 in the conference).

Ray Zeek and Matt Gelnaw each scored for Colby (1-6-0, 0-4-0 NESCAC).

Max Fenkell had 19 saves for Bowdoin, while Jordan Nathan had 25 saves for Colby.

Vermont 2, Maine 2, OT: Joey Diamond scored a power-play goal at 1:11 of the third period as the Black Bears tied the Catamounts in a Hockey East game in Orono.

Vermont (3-7-3, 3-5-3 in Hockey East) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Matt White at 4:02 of the second period. Maine (2-10-2, 1-6-2 in Hockey East) tied it about four minutes later on a goal by Ben Hutton, before Vermont took the lead back with four seconds left in the second on a goal by Tobias Nilsson-Ross.

Martin Ouellette had 21 saves for Maine, while Brody Hoffman had 38 saves for Vermont.

Men’s basketball

UMaine-Farmington 95, Green Mountain 59: Maranacook graduate Ben Johnson had 30 points, including 22 in the first half, as the Beavers cruised to the victory in Poultney, Vt.

Andrew Dickey added 22 points for UMF (4-1), while Yusuf Iman had 13 poinmts and six assists. The Beavers had a 53-32 edge on the boards.

Jakerion Ales scored 12 points for Green Mountain (1-5).

Duquesne 87, Maine 73: Justin Edwards scored a game-high 19 points, but the Black Bears fell to the Dukes in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Duquesne (4-3) was led by Jeremiah Jones, who scored 15 points, and Kadeem Pantophlet, who had 14 points.

Alasdair Fraser added 14 points and eight rebounds for Maine (2-5), while Xavier Pollard, who had 17 points and seven rebounds.

Castleton 113, Thomas 84: Skowhegan graduate Levi Barnes had 25 points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench, but the Terriers still fell to the Spartans in Castleton, Vt.

Stanley Greene, Jr. (16 points), Franklin Salvador (12), and Adam Carlsen (11) also scored in double figures for the Terriers (3-1 overall, 1-1 North Atlantic Conference.

Castleton (2-3, 1-1) led 67-56 at the half and pulled away after the break. Castleton’s starting five shot 27 for 39 (69.2 percent) from the floor. Mark Comstock paced the Spartans with 21 points.

Women’s basketball

UMaine-Farmington 81, Green Mountain 46: Mt. Abram graduate Kenni Norton had 18 points, four assists, and four steals as the Beavers rolled to the win in Poultney, Vt.

Rachel Clement chipped in with 11 points and Lindsay Ranquist had 10 for UMF (1-5). The Beavers turned the ball over only nine times and shot 10 of 21 on 3-pointers.

Chelsea Paul scored 15 points and Sierra Pease added 14 for Green Mountain (1-4).

Bowdoin 53, Colby 38: Diana Manduca scored a game-high 18 points, but it was the Polar Bears who came away with a win over the Mules in Brunswick.

Megan Phelps led Bowdoin (2-3) with 16 points and nine rebounds, while teammate Anna Prohl pulled down 11 rebounds.

Wateville Senior High School graduate Jen Nale added seven points for Colby (2-3).

Castleton 69, Thomas 35: The Terriers shot 26 percent from the floor and committed 28 turnovers in a loss to the Spartans in Castleton, Vt.

Megan Pelletier led Thomas with 10 points and four blocked shots, and Jasmine Bishop added eight rebounds. Thomas is now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the NAC.

Twelve different players scored for Castleton (6-0, 2-0), led by Alyssa Leonard with 11 points in 16 minutes.

Florida Gulf Coast 79, Maine 49: Liz Wood had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Black Bears loss in Fort Myers, Fla.

Sarah Hanson had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Florida Gulf Coast (4-3).

Danielle Walczak had nine points and Sophie Weckstrom eight for Maine (1-6).

Prep school boys basketball

Kents Hill 51, Hebron 45: Eli Roberts scored 31 points as the Huskies cruised to a win in Hebron.

Neklas Kwemo added six points for Kents Hill (1-1).

Ian King had 17 points, John Patch 13 and Shawn Holmes 11 for Hebron (1-1).

College swimming

MIT Invitational: Kayleigh Monahan finished eight in the 100-yard backstroke and Morganne Hodson was ninth in the 500 free for the Colby women’s swimming team on Friday and Saturday.

The Colby women finished sixth in the seven-team meet.

Ryan Bachur, Paul Wennberg, Vincent Galea and Tyler Lewtan finished 11th in the 200-yard freestyle relay for the Colby men

They also took 12 in the 800 free. The Mules finished with 32 points to finish seventh in the seven-team meet.

Also Saturday: Cony High School graduate Courtney Dufour had nine points, while Jillian Perron had seven in the Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball team’s 67-50 loss to St. Joseph’s College in Standish. Mackenzie Dufour had four assists for MMA.
