Drake Britton, a pitcher with the Portland Sea Dogs last summer, was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence, reckless driving and property damage, according to a report on ESPNBoston.com.

Britton had been scheduled to pitch for the Boston Red Sox in spring training Sunday, following Ryan Dempster, but the Red Sox held him out and then optioned him to Double-A Portland on Monday.
According to the report, Britton was arrested at 4:42 a.m. Saturday in Estero, Fla., after being clocked at 111 mph in a zone posted for 45. Police chased a black 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck that swerved between other moving vehicles, jumped a curb, knocked down a barbed-wire fence and continued down a dirt road for a quarter mile before stopping at a wooded area.
After refusing a breath test, Britton was taken to Lee County Jail. In 16 starts with the Sea Dogs last summer, he was 4-7 with a 3.73 ERA.
The Red Sox released this statement: "This is a matter that the Red Sox take very seriously, and it is being addressed. The club will not make further comment on this matter."
