READFIELD — Sarah Boynton struck out 13 batters and pitched a no-hitter to lead the Maranacook softball team past rival Oak Hill 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Boynton retired 17 of the final 18 hitters she faced.
She walked just two, with both coming in the first inning that led to the lone run for Oak Hill (1-2).
“When I go out there, I just think green light and I just go,” said Boynton. “Our defense was the best its been so far this season and our hitting was pretty good, too.”
Freshman Kaitlyn Chick had a pair of RBI singles and Mariah Vining added an RBI double to lead the Black Bears (2-1), who had seven hits.
“It was a good win,” Maranacook coach Don Beckwith said. “All wins are good.”
