FARMINGTON — A recent graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington will soon be on her way to Sochi to compete in the Paralympics.

Lindsay Ball, who was born visually impaired, was named to the U.S. Paralympic Alpine Skiing Team and will compete in the giant slalom in Sochi on March 16. Ball, who’s from Benton, is classified as completely blind in the Paralympics competition.

The university says the 2013 grad who started skiing at the age of 6 has won several competitions including the bronze medal in the 2012 Alpine Skiing World Cup Women’s Giant Slalom Visually Impaired race alongside her skiing guide, Diane Barras.
