AUGUSTA — Nia Irving scored 21 points to lead Lawrence to a 65-53 win against Edward Little in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A girls championship basketball game Monday night at the Augusta Civic Center.

Paige Belanger added 17 points for the winners while teammate Dominique Lewis scored 14. Kory Norcross led the Red Eddies with 21 points while Brooke Reynolds scored 15 and Tianna Harriman 12. The Eddies will be the top-seeded team in this week’s Eastern Maine Class A tournament while Lawrence is seeded second.

Hampden Academy defeated Brunswick 84-38 on Monday night for the boys championship/

BOYS HOCKEY

MESSALONSKEE 10, HOULTON 0: Dan Condon scored three goals and had three assists to lead the Eagles to an Eastern Class B win over Houlton at the John Millar Civic Center in Houlton.

Jake Dexter and Josh Towle each had two goals for Messalonskee (15-0-0), while Dylan Burton, Chase Cunningham and Jared Cunningham each added goals for the Eagles.

Houlton goalie Chase Brewer had 36 saves.

LEWISTON 8, LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 4: Evan Gosselin scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Blue Devils to the Class A win at Sukee Arena.

Matt Poulin, Ethan Melvin, Jeremy Rancourt, Kyle Lemelin , Griffin Wade and Max Bolduc also scored for Lewisont while Chase Nelson and Cody Martin each had two goals for Lawrence/Skowhegan.

Sam Zashut made 25 saves in goal for Lewiston (12-3-0) while Sam Edmondson made 34 for Lawrence/Skowhegan (9-6-0).
