LOCAL ROUNDUP: Gardiner beats MCI

McFarland’s 22 points lift Tigers

GARDINER — Seth McFarland had 22 points, including 16 from the free-throw line, as Gardiner defeated Maine Central Institute 56-48 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B boys basketball action Friday.

Alex LaPointe added 13 points and five steals, while Brad Weston had nine points and six rebounds for Gardiner (9-5).

Mitch Hallee had 17 points and Eric Hathaway 10 for MCI (4-10).

MESSALONSKEE 81, SKOWHEGAN 35: Jordon Holmes scored 29 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Holmes also had five assists. Nick Mayo added eight points and 10 rebounds for Messalonskee (11-4).

Skowhegan (1-12) was led by Eli Holland with seven points and Dequan Frost with six.

MARANACOOK 63, MEDOMAK VALLEY 45: Taylor Wilbur scored 21 points to lead the Black Bears to the KVAC B win in Readfield.

Cam Brochu added 13 points for Maranacook (11-4) while Brad Worster had 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Medomak Valley (6-7) was led by Nick DePatsy with 14 points.

KENTS HILL 58, BERWICK 38: Meklas Kwemo had 22 points and 15 rebounds as the Huskies cruised to a win.

Trevor Guity added 12 points and five assists for Kents Hill (5-3).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HALL-DALE 43, WINTHROP 6: Dani Sweet and Allison Crockett each scored 10 points to lead the visiting Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win.

Thea Sweet added eight points for Hall-Dale (9-5).

Randi Dennett had three points for Winthrop (0-15).

MORSE 44, ERSKINE 29: Signe Ostergaard had 22 points as the Shipbuilders won a KVAC B game in South China.

Emma Harrington added 10 points for Morse (6-8).

Mallory Chamberlain had 10 points for Erskine (3-11).

WISCASSET 39, MONMOUTH 33: Alecia Faulkingham had 13 points as the Wolverines won an MVC game in Monmouth.

Briana Gould added 10 points for Wiscasset (4-11).

Kylie Kemp had 14 points for Monmouth (9-6).

GARDINER 62, MCI 47: Rachel Quirion had 13 points as the Tigers won a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.

Lauren Chadwick added 11 points for the Tigers.

Katie Hughes and Brianna Losee each scored 10 points for MCI (2-11).

SKOWHEGAN 47, MESSALONSKEE 41: Morgan Buker had 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the host Indians to the KVAC A win.

Taylor Johnson added four points and seven assists for Skowhegan (8-5) while Alanna Atkinson scored 12.

Messalonskee was led by Kelsey Mayo with 15 points.
