LOCAL ROUNDUP: Cony girls beat Lewiston

Quirions combine for 41 points


AUGUSTA — Sisters Hayley and Emily Quirion combined for 41 points to lead Cony to a 58-54 win against Lewiston in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A girls basketball action Monday.

Hayley Quirion scored 24 points, including seven 3-pointers, while Emily added 17 points and three 3-pointers. Cony rallied from a 15-8 first quarter deficit to take a 29-28 lead at the half. Alyssah Dennett added 12 points for Cony (9-5).

Kristina Blais, Janessa Talarico and Bri Wilson each scored 14 points for Lewiston (4-10).

MARANACOOK 56, ERSKINE 28: Christine Miller and Catherine Sanborn combined for 39 points to lead the Black Bears to the KVAC B win in Readfield.

Miller finished with 23 points while Sanborn added 16 for Maranacook (9-5). Sanborn also had nine steals and five assists. Sarah Clough chipped in with six points and 10 steals.

Erskine (3-10) was led by Marissa Chamberlain with six points.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 54, HALL-DALE 28: Alexis Bessey scored 17 points as the Phoenix earned the Mountain Valley Conference win in Farmingdale.

Emily Keene added 13 points for Spruce Mountain (12-0).

Allison Crockett scored nine points for Hall-Dale (7-5) while Eva Shepherd added seven.

BOOTHBAY 68, WINTHROP 6: Morgan Crocker scored 21 points to lead the Seahawks (6-8) to the MVC win in Boothbay. Randi Dennett paced Winthrop (0-13) with four points.


MARANACOOK 38, ERSKINE 27: Taylor Wilbur scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Black Bears to a KVAC B win in South China.

Cam Brochu added eight points for Maranacook (10-4). The Black Bears were 6 of 7 in free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Tyler Bailey led Erskine (0-12) with 10 points.

CONY 57, LEWISTON 51: The Rams used a big third quarter to pull away from the Blue Devils en route to the KVAC A win in Lewiston. Kevin Kingsbury hit a pair of 3-pointers in the period while he and his teammates forced seven turnovers in outscoring Lewiston 21-9. Ben Lucas led the Rams with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Tyler Tardiff had 13 points and Alex Neill 10 rebounds. Carlos Gonzalex led Lewiston (5-9) with 17 points. Cony is 5-8.

MESSALONSKEE 54, MT. BLUE 29: Nick Mayo had 13 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Farmington.

Jordon Holmes added 12 points for Messalonskee (9-4) while Jordan Greenleaf chipped in with six points and six assists.

Mt. Blue (2-11) was led by Zach Mittelstadt with eight points.

RICHMOND 47, PINE TREE 31: The Bobcats jumped out to a 21-5 first-quarter lead en route to the Class D win in Richmond. Matt Holt led the winners with 17 points while Sean Bernier added 11 points and nine rebounds. JP Tashamala led Pine Tree (4-8) with 11 points. Richmond is 9-4.

LISBON 56, OAK HILL 47: The Greyhounds jumped out to a 28-14 halftime lead and never looked back on their way to the MVC win in Wales.

Kyle Bourget led Lisbon (9-5) with 17 points while Tucker Brannon had 12.

Oak Hill (3-9) was led by Dalton Therrien with 22 points and Jonah Martin with nine.

BOOTHBAY 52, WINTHROP 45: John Hepburn scored 11 of his 25 points in the third quarter to help the host Seahawks pull away for the MVC win. Jacob Hickey led Winthrop with 16 points, including four 3-pointers in the first quarter, Winthrop is 11-3, Boothbay is 13-1.
