DIXFIELD — Nicole Hamblin scored two goals to help the Spruce Mountain field hockey team win the Mountain Valley Conference championship with a 4-0 victory over Winthrop on Thursday at Dirigo High School.

“We didn’t get much going offensively,” Winthrop coach Jess Merrill said. “We played them pretty even in the first half.”

Morgan Fournier and Emily Hogan also scored for the Phoenix, who out-shot the Ramblers 19-5.

Alyssa Arsenault had eight saves before leaving the game with an injury for Winthrop, which held a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners. Corinna Coulton came in and had three saves.
Kasey Richards had three saves for Spruce Mountain.

Boys soccer

Gardiner 3, Leavitt 1: The Tigers raced out to a 2-0 lead and then held off Leavitt to pick up the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference B victory in Gardiner.

Josh Caldwell and Peter Delgallo scored in the first half before Kaleb Marston added one late in the second half to pace the Tigers (6-7-1).

Tyler Roux scored on a penalty kick for Leavitt (2-10-2).

Maranacook 5, Erskine 0: Kodey Solmitz scored two goals and Nick Lacasse had a goal and two assists as Maranacook rolled to the KVAC B victory in Readfield.

Alec Daigle and Taylor Wilbur also scored for the Black Bears (13-0-2), who led 2-0 at the half.
Jared Gartley had nine saves to lead the Eagles (10-3-0).

Girls soccer

Richmond 6, Old Orchard Beach 1: Amber Loon ad Miranda Martin each scored two goals to lead the Bobcats in Richmond.

Autumn Acord and Kelsea Anair also scored Richmond (13-1-0).

Acord, Martin, Anair, Morgan Harrington, and Cameron Hurley all had assists.

Abigail James scored the lone goal for OOB (1-11-0).

Hall-Dale 1, Mt. Abram 0:
Maura Stottler scored with 6:40 left in the second half as the Bulldogs beat the Roadrunners in an MVC game in Farmingdale.

Eva Shepherd had an assist on the goal for Hall-Dale (10-1-2).

Olivia Maynard earned the win with two saves. Allie Lopez had eight saves for Mt. Abram (5-8-0).
