WATERVILLE — Nate Tolman scored his first goal of the season to lift the Colby College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Thomas College on Wednesday at Colby.

This is Colby’s third straight win in the Elm City Bowl. The winner of the game between the two Waterville colleges keeps the bowl for the year until the next game.

After the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie in the first half, Tolman took a feed from junior midfielder Keith Chernin and scored at the 67:08 mark of the second half.

Colby took a 1-0 lead on an own goal by Thomas when a long throw in was headed by Tim Stanton toward the Thomas goal, where one of the Terriers tried to clear it and put it into the net at 43:00.

homas struck back quickly, scoring just 16 seconds later when Paul Rechichi tapped in a shot that came off the left goal post. Joshua Phelps was credited with an assist.

Cody Funkhouse made eight saves for Colby (3-4-0), while Mikkail Crockwell had 10 saves for Thomas (4-4-1).

College field hockey

Colby 5, Husson 0: The Mules scored four times in the second half and cruised to a win over the Eagles in Bangor.

Natalie Fischer scored on a penalty stroke in the first half to give Colby (5-2-0) 1-0 lead. Megan Fortier then scored two goals in the second half. McKayla Blanch and Erika Johnson also scored for Colby, while Misha Strage and Caitlin Murray each added an assists. Sarah Evans and Michelle Burt combined for nine saves for the Mules.

Maicee Gustin had 21 saves for Husson (6-3-0).

Boys soccer

Carrabec 4, Oak Hill 0: The Cobras scored three second-half goals to break open a close game and earn the Mountain Valley Conference win in Wales.

Troy Dunphy, Nicholas Sansone and Nicholas Lebeau scored in a eight-minute span of the second half to lead Carrabec (3-4-1). Paul Kaplan added an assist.

Trent Richardson had six saves for the Cobras while Kyle Field had 23 for the Raiders (0-9-0).

Mt. Abram 7, Winthrop 2: Chris Daly scored two goals and Cal Dixon had a goal and a goal and three assists to lead the Roadrunners to the MVC win in Winthrop.

Colin Edwards, Gerardo Rio, Keegan Rolbeki and Luke Romanowski also scored for Mt. Abram (7-2-0).

Sebastian Pettit scored both goals for Winthrop (1-7-0).

Messalonskee 6, Mt. Blue 0: Brandon Nale scored two goals and Quinn Warren had a goal and an assist as the Eagles rolled to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A victory in Oakland.

Will Couture, Eric Van Der Karr and Elija Tuell also scored for Messalonskee (4-4-0).

Colton Lawrence had six saves to lead the Cougars (3-6-0).
