GARDINER — Joe Harnett had seven points in the second quarter and 12 in the fourth to help Gardiner beat Maranacook 67-61 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B boys basketball opener Friday.

Harnett finished with 25 points. Seth McFarland added 15 points while Josh McKelvey had six points and eight rebounds and Brad Weston had seven rebounds for the Tigers (1-0).

Taylor Wilbur had 30 points, including six 3-pointers for Maranacook (0-1).

MT. VIEW 46, ERSKINE 43 OT: Brady Gibbs scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs to the KVAC B win in overtime in South China.

Mt. View (1-0) blew a 10-point third quarter lead before outscoring the Eagles 5-3 in overtime. Nathan Wren added 11 points and Jack Simpson 10.

Tyler Bailey scored all six of his points from the free throw line in the fourth quarter in Erskine’s (0-1) run. Sophomore Matt Clary also steppe dup and scored five of his 11 points in the fourth. Jared Gartley added 13 points and Trevor Browne had five points and eight rebounds.

Kents Hill 58, Hebron 52 (OT): Nelkas Kwemo scored 17 points and Khalil Webb added eight to lead the Huskies to the voertime victory at the Hyde School in Bath. Luke Dragonetti added seven points for Kents Hill (1-0), which out-scored Hebron (0-2) 10-4 in overtime.

Jaylen Robenson scored 29 points to lead Hebron.

Girls basketball

Messalonskee 45, Mt. Ararat 31: Kelsey Mayo had 14 points and 10 rebounds as Messalonskee won its season opener in Topsham.

Kassi Michaud added 2 points, while Mikayla Turner grabbed six rebounds for Messalonskee.

Lindsey Cornelison had 12 points for Mt. Ararat.

Rangeley 50, Richmond 30: Tori Letarte had 19 points and six steals as the Lakers beat the Bobcats in the East/West Conference season-opener for both teams in Rangeley.

Taylor Esty added 16 points and six rebounds, while Blayke Morin had 13 points and seven rebounds for Rangeley.

Kelsea Anair had six points for Richmond.

BRUNWICK 56, CONY 53: Julia Champagne scored a game-high 26 points and Anna Dimick added eight to lead the Dragons to the KVAC A victory in Brunswick.

Emily Quirion scored 23 poinrs and Haley Quirion added 17 to pace Cony (0-1). Alyssah Dennett had five points for the Rams as well.

BOYS HOCKEY

Messalonskee 3, Bangor 2: Brandon Nale scored the game-winning goal just 50 seconds after the Rams had tied the game as the Eagles won their season opener at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.

Dan Condon scored in the first period with assists from Chase Cunningham and Jared Cunningham to give Messalonskee a 1-0 lead. Bangor tied it in the second a goal by Justin Courtney, before Messalonskee took the lead back later in the period on a goal by Josh Towle. Owen Trundy tied it in the third period for Bangor.

Chase Cunningham and Jared Cunningham also assisted Nale on the game-winner. Ben Weeks earned the win with 18 saves.
