WINTHROP — Monmouth senior Kylie Kemp scored three goals to break the school scoring record and lead the girls soccer team to a 6-0 win against Winthrop in Mountain Valley Conference action Saturday.

Kemp’s three goals give her 62 for her career, breaking the old record of 61 held by Faith Flannery. Kemp returned to the lineup Saturday after missing a pair of games due to a collision that resulted in a concussion and broken nose in a game against St. Dominic.

“Her speed is very deceving for a lot of teams,” Monmouth coach Gary Trafton said of Kemp. “And she’s got a nice shot outside.”

Kemp added two assists, one on a corner kick to her sister Kristin. Freshman Hayley Fletcher scored the other two goals for Monmouth while Paxton Lessard notched two assists. Krissy Doughty made 10 saves for Winthrop (0-6-1) while Mikayla Cameron and Madi Neal combined for six saves for Monmouth (5-1-0).

Messalonskee 3, Skowhegan 1: Kassadi McPherson scored all three goals and Taylor Easler had eight saves to lead the Eagles to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A victory.

McKenna Brodeur and Mackenzie Anderson had assists for Messalonskee (3-4-0).

Michaela Lewia scored for Skowhegan (0-7-0).

Kents Hill 1, Hebron 0: Faith Forsythe scored an unassisted goal from about 40 yards out 20 minutes into the second half to help the Huskies win at Hebron.

Emma Curin had 12 saves to earn the shutout for Kents Hill (2-1-0).

Hebron dropped to 0-2-0.

Maranacook 7, Gardiner 1: Taylor Wilbur scored three goals and Kent Mohlar added a pair to lead the Black Bears in a KVAC B game.

Alex Tooth and Cody Solmitz also scored Maranacook (8-0-0). Solmitz also had three assists. Wilbur, Tooth and Mohlar also had assists for the Black Bears.

Dylan Haskell scored the lone goal and Kenneth Moore had three saves for Gardiner (2-5-1).

Mt. Abram 6, Monmouth 3: The Roadrunners scored five straight goals in the second half en route to the MVC win in Salem.

Chris Daly scored three of the second-half goals while Bryson Walker scored two. Trevor Brackley scored for Mt. Abram in the first half. Monmouth got a pair of goals in the first half from Joe Menice, the second with two seconds left, and another from freshman Hunter Richardson.

Keegan Rolbiecki had two assists for the Roadrunners while Brackley, Colin McCarthy-Edwards and Gerardo Rio each had one. Kasey Smith made 11 saves in goal for Monmouth (4-2-0) and Tristen Dyer made four for Mt. Abram (6-2-0).

Hebron 2, Kents Hill 0: Tommy Centemero scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Lumberjacks to the Maine Association of Independent Schools Athletic Directors (MAISAD) game in Herbon.
Luke Dragonetti made eight saves in goals for Kents Hill. Both teams are 4-1-0.

Field hockey

Cony 3, Lewiston 1: Arika Brochu scored two goals and Delaney Keithley added another as the Rams pulled out the KVAC A victory in Augusta.

Katie Carroll had two assists for Cony (6-3-0) while Lindsay Lapierre had six saves.

Lauren LeCompte scored the lone goal for Lewiston (2-7-0).

Belfast 6, Maranacook 3: Madison Cummings scored four goals and Hannah Bailey added a pair to lead the Lions in Readfield.

Belfast improved to 5-4.

Lindsay Webber, Lindsay Jackson and Kianna Pushard all scored for the Black Bears (2-7). Rachel Castonguay had an assist while Brianna Geotz had 10 saves.
