HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Stewart, Richmond hand Buckfield 1st loss of season

RICHMOND — Billy Johansen scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a tie game and lift the Richmond baseball team past Buckfield 5-4 in a Western D game Tuesday.

The Bobcats (3-2) trailed 4-0 in the fourth inning.

Collin Acord had two hits for Richmond while Eddie Stewart struck out six to earn the victory. Stewart pitched the complete game, allowing five hits and walking one.

Buckfield dropped to 3-1.

Boys lacrosse

Gardiner 17, Mountain Valley 0: Tyler Jamison and Dalton Sargent each scored three goals and two assists to lead the Tigers in Rumford. Josh Caldwell and Alex Nadeau each added a pair of goals for the Tigers (8-0).

Keegan Smith scored a goal and added five assists.

Coyote Freeman had 19 saves for the Falcons (0-6).

Maranacook/Winthrop 8, St. Dominic 5: Zach Glazier scored two goals to lead a balanced attack as Maranacook/Winthrop edged St. Dom’s at Winthrop High School.

Jesse Evans, Kyle Morand, Logan Emery and Zach Godbout also scored for Maranacook/Winthrop, which improves to 5-). Evans added a pair of assists.

Dalton Lorenz scored two goals to lead St. Dom’s (0-6).

Mt. Ararat 8, Messalonskee 4: Jeremy Williams and Nick Dow scored three goals to lead Mt. Ararat to the Eastern A victory in Oakland.

Will Hirnak scored two goals and Dow also added a pair of assists for Mt. Ararat (4-3).
Ben Weeks led Messalonskee with two goals.

Jordan Holmes, Aidan Calkins, Ryan Erskine and Devin Campbell also scored for Messalonskee, which improves to 4-3.

Softball

Richmond 13, Buckfield 1, 5 innings:
Andra Meagher had a single, double and an RBI to lead the Bobcats to the Western D victory in Richmond.

Winning pitcher Jamie Plummer had three singles and drove in a run as well. Plummer struck out four and walked one to earn the victory for Richmond (6-0).  Sami Zak had two hits for Buckfield (2-3).
