WINSLOW — Hampden Academy scored 12 seconds into the game, but Messalonskee ran off eight straight goals to cruise to an 8-1 Eastern B boys hockey victory at Sukee Arena on Thursday.
Chase Cunningham scored three times in the first period as Messalonskee (16-2-0) took a 5-1 lead. His brother Jared scored twice in the second period for the Eagles. Chase also had four assists, while Jared had three.
J.T. Towle added two goals and Dylan Burton had one for Messalonskee, which will play Camden Hills in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B title game at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sukee Arena. Burton also had three assists, while Jake Dexter had two assists.
Ben Weeks and Elija Tuell combined for 31 saves for the Eagles.
Matthew Closson scored for Hampden Academy (11-7-0). Ryan Manning and Joe Kocik had 22 saves for the Broncos.
