AUGUSTA — For the first time, boys and girls quarterfinal games of the Maine Principals’ Association high school basketball tournament at the Augusta Civic Center will be streamed live on the websites of the Kennebec Journal and the Morning Sentinel.

Coverage of quarterfinal action in the Eastern Maine Class A, as well as Western C and Western D, will be streamed on www.kjonline.com/sports and www.onlinesentinel.com/sports by Munzing Media starting on Friday, Feb. 15.

Previously, quarterfinal games were not broadcast on television or live streamed the Internet. Maine Public Broadcasting Network broadcast the regional semifinals, finals and state championships games.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide our fans with coverage of the quarterfinals,” Kennebec Journal/Morning Sentinel Executive Sports Editor Scott Martin said. “This is a unique opportunity to provide high school basketball fans with complete coverage of the tournament.”

Munzing Media will stream the 24 quarterfinal games from the Augusta Civic Center to the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel websites. Munzing Media teamed up with the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel to broadcast 75 games since the fall of 2012, including coverage of high school football, basketball and hockey.

All 24 quarterfinal games, which will be played on Feb. 15, Feb. 16, Feb. 18 and Feb. 19, will be broadcast in high definition. Coverage will include pre and post-game interviews. Play-by-play and color commentary will be provided by Rob Munzing, Rob Kennedy, Gary Verhille, Nate Munzing and Andy Munzing, and stats will be compiled by Dick Leighton.
