FARMINGTON — Despite committing a pair of turnovers in the final 15 seconds, the Thomas College men’s basketball team held on for a 61-60 win over the University of Maine at Farmington.

After Garrett Clemmer hit a 3-pointer to pull UMF within a point, Nick Hilton stole the Terriers’ inbounds pass, but an offensive foul gave the ball back to Thomas. The entry pass was stolen again, but in a scramble for the ball, officials ruled a UMF player stepped on the sideline with possession, giving the Terriers the ball with under a second to play.

Garen Manzo and Shaun Munson each scored 13 points to pace Thomas (5-8, 5-3 North Atlantic Conference).

Andrew Dickey led the Beavers (6-8, 4-4) with a game-high 18 points.

Albany 85, Maine 78: Gary Johnson scored a career-high 28 points and the Great Danes held on for the America East win in Orono.

Maine cut a second-half deficit to 79-76 with 55 seconds remaining after Till Gloger hit a pair of free throws, but Zarko Valjarevic’s attempt at a game-tying 3-pointer with 18 seconds left was off the mark. Peter Hooley made all six of his free throw attempts in the final 16 seconds of the game as Albany (9-9, 3-2) held on for the win. Hooley scored 19 for the Great Danes, including 12-of-12 from the free throw line.

Ethan Mackey scored a career-high 24 points Maine (3-14, 1-4).

Williams 69, Colby 62: Duncan Robinson scored 27 points to lead the Ephs to the New England Small College Athletic Conference win in Williamstown, Mass.

Michael Mayer scored 15 points for Williams (13-2, 3-1).

Chris Hudnut led Colby (7-7, 1-3) with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Shane Rogers scored 16 points for the Mules.

Women’s basketball

Williams 71, Colby 54: The 15th-ranked Ephs used a 17-0 run that stretched over both halves to take the NESCAC win in Williamstown, Mass.

Lauren McCall led Williams (14-2, 2-2) with 17 points. Waterville’s Jen Nale scored 12 points for Colby (5-11, 0-4), while Hall-Dale grad Carylanne Wolfington scored 11 points for the Mules.

UMF 61, Thomas 28: Ayla Allen scored 15 points to lead the Beavers to the NAC win in Farmington.

UMF outscored the Terriers 42-13 in the second half. Messalonskee grad Holly Oliver added 10 points for the Beavers.

Gardiner graduate Katie McAllister led Thomas with 13 points.

Albany 84, Maine 56: The Great Danes pulled away in the second half to take the America East win in Albany, N.Y.

Sarah Royals scored 23 points for Albany (14-3, 4-0) and Sheeresha Richards added 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Ashleigh Roberts led Maine (9-9, 3-2) with 22 points, moving her into 16th all-time in scoring for the Black Bears.

Women’s hockey

Colby 3, Connecticut College 0: Brianne Wheeler stopped 43 shots for a second straight game and Annie Papadellis scored two goals to lead the Mules in a NESCAC game in Waterville.

Megan Fortier scored a goal and two assists for Colby (5-6-2, 3-4-1).

Wheeler also had 43 saves in a 1-1 tie with the Camels (6-6-3, 14-3) on Friday.

Men’s hockey

Trinity 6, Colby 3: Ryan Cole netted a hat trick, including the go-ahead score to break a 3-3 tie early in the third period, to lead Trinity to the NESCAC win in Hartford, Conn.

Trinity led 3-2 after two periods, but Colby tied the game when Michael Van Siclen scored at 3:10 of the third. Thirty-four seconds later, Cole gave the Bantams the lead for good.

Benjamin Coulthard made 17 saves for Trinity (11-3-0, 6-2-0 NESCAC). Sam Parker stopped 28 shots for the Mules (8-5-3, 5-4-1).

Nordic skiing

Amy Bianco took 13th place in the 10-kilometer skate race with a time of 29 minutes, 58.9 seconds for Colby at the Quarry Road Recreational Area in Waterville.

Colby’s John Dixon was 17th in the men’s 15K race, with a time of 38:25.0. The Colby women placed fifth, while the men placed ninth.

Alpine skiing

Paige Whistler placed 14th in the slalom for the Colby women, and Matt McKenna placed 24th to lead the Mules at the Colby Carnival in Carrabassett Valley.

Whistler had a two-run time of 1:41.03. McKenna’s two-run time was 1:31.22.

Also Saturday: Waterville’s Jeff Hale won the 5,000 meter run for Colby at the Bates Invitational with a time of 15:14.54… Maranacook graduate Kyle Boucher scored eight points in Maine Maritime Academy’s 73-50 loss to Colby-Sawyer in men’s basketball action. … Cony graduate Mackenzie Dufour added seven points, three assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals as St. Joseph’s College defeated the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 64-51 in women’s basketball action. … Skowhegan graduate Amanda Johnson scored 13 points as the Husson University women’s basketball team beat New England College 67-58. The win was number 400 in the career of Husson coach Kissy Walker. … Lawrence graduate Brooks Spaulding scored 12 points in Husson’s 91-65 win over New England College in men’s basketball action. … Valley grad Carrington Miller had 12 points and nine rebounds as Central Maine Community College’s men basketball team defeated UMaine-Presque Isle 126-71.
