WATERVILLE — Desi Smith had 15 points and eight rebounds as the Colby women’s basketball team overcame a slow start to beat Husson 54-45 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

Colby (6-11) started the game 0 for 10 from the field, then made 10 of its next 16 to take a 27-19 lead at halftime. The Eagles led 16-7 with 9 minutes, 4 seconds left in the first half, but did not score for the first of the half.

Hall-Dale graduate Carylanne Wolfington had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and five rebounds for Colby. Brooke Chandor added 10 poitns and six rebounds, while Cony graduate Mia Diplock had five steals and three assists.

Kathryn Brocu had eight points and eight rebounds for Husson (54-41).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

COLBY 79, THOMAS 63: Chris Hudnut had 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Mules beat the Terriers in a non-conference game in Waterville.

Myles Stephenson and Connor O’Neil each added 12 points, while Ryan Jan had 11 for Colby.

Garen Manzo had a game-high 27 points, while Stanley Greene Jr. had 16 for Thomas.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL

GARDINER 56, LEAVITT 38: Lauren Chadwick had 15 points and five assists as the Tigers cruised to a win in Gardiner.

Ally Day added 12 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for Gardiner (7-5), while Rachel Quirion had 10 points.

Allie Bellaire had 12 points for Leavitt (6-8).
