LAKELAND, Fla. — The University of Maine at Farmington defeated Medaille College 4-3 in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday to salvage a split with the Mavericks at the RussMatt Baseball Tournament. Medaille (4-4) won the first game 9-4

Trevor Hisler had a hit and two RBIs for the Beavers in Game 2 while teammate Jordan Croteau scored twice, had a hit and drove in a run. Brendan Soper pitched five innings of relief for the win. Grayson Beressi had two hits for UMF (3-1) in the opener while starter Mark Leahy took the pitching loss.

MAINE 14, BOWLING GREEN 5: The Black Bears collected 15 hits in the victory in Winter Haven, Fla. Colin Gay and Troy Black had three hits each for Maine (7-12) while Alex Calbick, Brian Doran and Jonathan Salcedo each had two. Bowling Green is 6-12.

EVANSVILLE 9, MAINE 7: Boomer Synek drove in three runs to lead the Purple Aces to the win in Winter Haven, Fla. Alex Calbick led the Black Bears with three hits while Steven Adam, Troy Black, Brian Doranm, Jonathan Salcedo and Sam Balzano each had two. Charlie Butler took the loss in relief of starter Luke Morrill. Maine is 7-12, Evansville is 8-6.

MEN’S LACROSSE

TUFTS 20, COLBY 8: The Jumbos scored 12 straight goals en route to the New England Small College Athletic Conference in Medford, Mass. John Uppgren led Tufts with five goals. Derek Youngman paced the Mules with four goals while Alex Rutan, Kenny Jacobson, John Grimaldi and Austin Satyre each scored a goal. Patton Watkins made 12 saves in goal for Tufts (4-0, 2-0 NESCAC) while Tyler Wil made 19 stops for Colby (3-1, 2-1).

REGIS 16, THOMAS 2: Nicky Rodrigo scored four goals to lead the Pride to the win in Weston, Mass. Gunnar Shelton and Bryan Ferris each scored for the Terriers. Carlos Cardona made 20 saves in goal for Thomas (0-4) while three goalies combined for 11 saves for Regis (3-2).

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

REGIS 16, UMF 8: Sam Salmone scored five goals to help spoil UMaine-Farmington’s season opener in Weston, Mass. Mara Balboni led the Beavers with three goals while Alya Allen and Haley Binette each scored two and Maddi Kadnar one. Hannah Goodenow made 12 saves in goal for UMF (0-1) while Emma Decker had 15 stops for Regis (1-2).

INDOOR TRACK

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Colby College women’s 1,600-meter relay team of Emily Doyle, Michaela Athanasopoulos, Emily Tolman and Frances Onyilagha earned All-American honors after placing seventh in the event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Onyilagha helped the Mules take seventh in a season-best 3:51.74 and beat NESCAC rival Williams College with a smoking 56.643 on the anchor leg. The Ephs, who finished eighth, had a better time after the first three runners. Onyilagha had the fifth-fastest anchor leg.
