WATERVILLE -- The Thomas College men's basketball team overcame a slow start to beat Johnson State 93-72 Friday night.
Jarrad DeVaughn scored a game-high 23 points for Thomas (12-9, 8-7 in the North Atlantic Conference). Sowhegan Area High School graduate Levi Barnes and Stanley Greene Jr. both scored 11 for Thomas. Asim Khan scored 18 points for Johnson State (8-13, 6-8 in the conference). UM-Farmington 78, Lyndon State 53: Maranacook Community High School graduate Ben Johnson had 19 points and 15 rebounds in the Beavers win in Farmington. Nate Carson had 23 points, Yusuf Iman 11 and Andrew Dickey 10 for UMF (17-5, 12-3 in the conference). Devyn Baranauskas had 13 points and Jose Fortunato 10 for Lyndon State. Women's basketball UM-Farmington 60, Lyndon State 37: Holly Oliver scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Beavers won in Farmington. Lindsay Ranquist added 10 points for UMF (8-13, 8-7 in the conference). Thomas 70, Johnson State 55: Katie McAllister had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Terriers won in Waterville. Elizabeth Goodall had 18 points, Jasmine Bishop added 13 points, while Megan Pelletier had nine points and 10 rebounds for Thomas (7-14, 5-10 in the conference). Brittany Robertson had 20 points and Mary Richardson had 15 for Johnson State (5-16, 2-12). Also Friday: Mt. Blue High School graduate Ben Russell scored four points in the Maine Maritime Academy men's basketball team's 64-54 loss to New England College. … Cony High School graduate Courtney Dufour scored 14 points and Messalonskee graduate Mary Badeen had five as the Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball team beat New England College 54-47 in Castine. ... Mt. View graduate Chrissy Larrabee had 13 points, four assists and three rebounds, while Lawrence graduate Kelli Murray added 12 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals in the Husson women's basketball team's 94-66 loss to Colby-Sawyer College.
