Ben Lucas, quarterback for Cony High School, won the James L. Fitzpatrick Trophy Sunday at Holiday Inn by The Bay in Portland.
The trophy is awarded to the top senior high school football player in the state.
Lucas finished his career as the most prolific passer in Maine high school history and led the Rams to the Class B state title. Lucas passed for 41 touchdowns and 3,482 yards. He passed for three touchdowns and 307 yards in the second half of the state final to rally Cony to a 30-23 win over Kennebunk.
Thw two other finalists were Kennebunk’s Nicco DeLorenzo (running back, linebacker) and Portland’s Justin Zukowski (running back, linebacker).
