A unique twist on the usual garden/house tour model, "Art at Home" offers a self-guided tour of seven residences with private art collections. Participating homes, all in or near downtown Hallowell, were selected to showcase their residents' art collections, and the way art and living space are integrated in their personal spaces. Ticket holders can view an eclectic variety of art ranging from a Picasso to a vintage paint-by-number collection, with a strong showing of Maine artists, according to a news release.
The Harlow Gallery will provide participants with a detailed program guide including a map, and complete information on the individual collections. Volunteer docents will be present at each site to answer questions and give directions. Participants will be encouraged to explore Hallowell's many fine dining and shopping establishments -- many Hallowell businesses will offer promotional discounts to ticket holders, these will be listed in the program guide. In addition, ticket holders will be entered in a random prize drawing for one of three original pieces of artwork on the day of the event. The prize drawing will take place at a reception at 2:30 p.m. at Easy Street Lounge, 7 Front St. Ticketholders must be present to win.
Tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event. To purchase tickets, or for more information, contact the Harlow Gallery at 622-3813 or email kvaa@harlowgallery.org.
