45th annual Fall Foliage Festival at Boothbay's Railway Village

Kennebec Journal Staff

This weekend, the Boothbay Railway Village along with the Boothbay Information Center will host a New England craft fair. Imagine the smell of hot mulled cider, fresh Maine clam chowder and add the sound of a steam whistle resonating throughout the crisp fall air.

Come down for some great food, Maine crafts, narrow gauge steam train rides, over 50 classic, vintage and antique cars, along with all other museum exhibits and non-stop musical entertainment.

In central Maine this weekend

On the music front, Sultans of String Duo will perform in Dexter tonight, North Sea Gas will take the stage Friday in Gardiner, on Saturday Embden Community Center will host Doug Mathew, Blaine Burhoe and Bob Elson and the Kennebec Valley Chordsmen will perform in Waterville. Next week, Regina Spektor and The Dewrops will perform in Portland.

In special events, there's the Harvest Ball in Starks, a Lunafest film festival in Lewiston and Cirque Du Soleil can be seen in Portland on multiple dates. A Healing Arts and Psychic Festival will be in Fairfield Saturday.

Be sure to check out the exhibit listings -- there are new exhibits and opening receptions.

New in theaters Friday will be "Butter," "Frankenweenie," "The Paperboy," "Perfect Pitch," "Samsara" and "Taken 2."
