Letter to the Editor
The Belgrade/Rome Special Needs Food Pantry would like to thank all those who helped make possible the distribution of our annual holiday food baskets.
The food pantry, which has been in operation since 1992, is housed in the basement of the Belgrade Town Office. It is operated by more than 40 dedicated volunteers and supplied by contributions from local churches, schools, clubs, foundations, businesses and private individuals.
Because of the very generous donations from the residents of Belgrade and Rome and local businesses, the food pantry was able to distribution 60 holiday food baskets, which consisted of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, canned and fresh vegetables and fruit, milk, margarine, pie and more.
In these stressful economic times, when many food banks are finding it difficult to keep their shelves full, it is heartwarming to know that our neighbors are aware of others' difficult situation and are willing and able to assist.
Thank you Belgrade and Rome.
Marylou Butterfield, chairwoman
