At the end of last year, the Winthrop Grade School’s third-grade classes embarked on a community walking tour that brought them to many locations. They visited a wide range of places, including the police station, the Bailey Library, the Flaky Tart cafe, a bank and several others. This was a wonderful activity that brought school and community together, and allowed the students a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the workings of some of the cornerstones of their town.

I’d like to express my appreciation to the Winthrop Grade School staff, particularly teachers Ellie Byron, Heidi Guerette and Marcia Luszczki, for their dedication in pulling off this wonderful tour. What a great way to celebrate community with their students!
