I literally laughed out loud when I read the July 10 opinion section, specifically while reading Mychael Bartholf's letter about Libby Mitchell being "put out to pasture."
First, his letter really had nothing to do with my letter (July 6) about Paul LePage. I never claim to affiliate myself with any political party, nor do I vote with specific party lines in mind. I vote for the person most suited for the position.
I read a good chunk of the online comments to my letter about LePage. One read: I don't want him in office because I'm "afraid my welfare check will run out." Actually, that's not the case at all; I simply do not want LePage in office because once again, Maine is not a salvage store, it's your home. Maine is not a business either, it's your home.
Cutting government costs will cut your children's education, road repairs (repaving, pothole filling, curb repairs, etc.), snow removal, police officers statewide, and most government run services. This list can go on and on. I agree however that spending must be cut in some way. LePage, I feel, will butcher spending all together. Everything you know about government services will disappear. LePage has absolutely no intelligent plan to keep college graduates here.
Further, LePage has no intelligent plans, period. It's sad that so many people believe the stuff that comes from his mouth. There are much better candidates than this man.
In fact, there are four other candidates to choose from.
