The war in Afghanistan is a war of absolute futility. The history of Afghanistan showed without a shadow of a doubt that it can never be won. Such as the past history confirmed.
Alexander the Great with the most powerful army in the world at that time could not take over Afghanistan. The Roman Empire couldn't do it. The British Empire tried three times and three times it was defeated. The Soviet Union with one of the most powerful armies in the world couldn't do it.
Now, the United States is trying to do the impossible. Afghanistan cannot be taken over! Period. It is a hopeless cause, just like Vietnam.
Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., said, "Progress in the war has been harder and slower than I think anyone anticipated," Really. Has anyone studied the history of Afghanistan? George Santayana said, "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." The winner will be the international bankers, the military industrial complex. The losers will be the American people with a bill that they can never hope to pay for.
If the policymakers in Washington were wise and showed some logical reason, they would pack up and leave this fiasco (ignominious failure) right away.
