Forum on the Future about energy gave sensible ideas

Thanks for Susan M. Cover's story about the Jan. 22 Forum on the Future, featuring professor Habib Dagher's vision for offshore wind generation.

As noted, we could save $5 billion in transportation and heating costs, while generating $3 billion worth of electricity that could be sold in other New England states.

I came away thinking that Dagher's ideas are sensible and should be pursued with great determination.

We at Univesity of Maine at Augusta Senior College conceived of the Forum on the Future as a way to leave behind a world in which our grandchildren could thrive.

Two earlier events covered jobs and health care, and upcoming ones will cover education, more about energy, and the "creative economy."
