I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
Of course, the most important part of my life is family. And I am fortunate to live in a state filled with beautiful natural treasures.
These wild places draw distant family and friends to visit and explore, season after season, year after year.
Our public lands and waters bring visitors to Maine.
Whether Caribou-Speckled Mountain Wilderness or the Appalachian Trail, people love to see and experience our shared wilderness areas.
We are able to enjoy this natural playground thanks to legislative conservation measures that protect our wilderness.
In the coming weeks, the U.S. Senate will vote on wildland and wilderness protection bills — legislation that helps conserve Maine’s and America’s land and waters.
I hope that Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe will vote to protect the natural treasures for which my family and I are so thankful.
