Spirit of caring and giving is alive and well

The other day, while ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, a number of shoppers offered to buy me coffee, which I gratefully declined. One young man brought me a chocolate bar, another donuts, another insisted I take the coffee because I “must be freezing.”

It was quite a cold day, but I was prepared for it and reasonably comfortable. Many shoppers generously put money in the kettle while graciously thanking me for standing there. In these uncertain times, it is a heartwarming and reassuring experience to be reminded that the spirit of caring and giving is alive and well.
