It’s bad enough that the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM) now has First Wind as a corporate sponsor. It is also allowing First Wind to use its website as a platform for its propaganda.
The SAM website says, “A study by LaCapra Associates in 2008 showed that ‘... the addition of wind energy to the existing energy market will provide significant downward pressure on the price of electricity’” Really?
Bangor Hydro-Electric customers recently were notified about a Dec. 7 filing with the Maine Public Utilities Commission for a 41.21 increase in the standard cost rate.
Bangor Hydro is requesting cost rates be increased for all core customer classes, effective March 1 through Feb. 28, 2014, corresponding to approximately a 4.6 percent increase in overall delivery rates.
I guess this is the benefit that makes up for First Wind clear-cutting the mountaintops of Maine.
