Pen and ink drawings, poems, essays and pictures told the stories of bits of Chelsea’s history at an inspiring event run by the Chelsea Grange with the Chelsea Elementary School’s seventh- and eighth-graders.

This is the kind of happening and exhibition of student work that we don’t hear about every day, an event that gives one faith in the future. And what a great multi-generational assembly.

Fourteen students’ work was recognized including the girl who designed the program listing of bios of the kids. Those who wrote essays or poems read them for us who gathered at the Grange Hall on May 19 in celebration and for pizza lunch.

Their work depicted the town ferry, school, a church, an old, almost forgotten cemetery in the woods and their own ancestors and forebears.
