Let's not forget the garbage collectors

Letter to the Editor

This is a time of year we should be honoring the city's hardest workers: our garbage collectors.

They work in the worst weather conditions and handle dirty, dangerous materials.

I hope they are paid a fair salary for their work. In Consumer Reports magazine, it says garbage collectors are the least appreciated and lowest-tipped servants of the public.

At this is special time of year, we should consider giving a little something, perhaps tied to the cover of our garbage cans. They are a three-member team.

I am sure they would appreciate your thoughtfulness.
