On April 23, I read a letter to the editor regarding foreign aid and our priorities, which referred to an earlier letter (April 14) regarding aid to the Palestinians.

I would like to point out that Israel is the largest recipient of foreign aid at $3.1 billion annually and Barack Obama’s budget requests $316 million additional for missile defense.

Last month in Israel, Obama reportedly pledged to open negotiations to increase aid to $40 billion payable through 2028, which apparently would be $4 billion annually.

It’s not as if the Israeli people were needy, because the average income in 2011, according to the World Bank was $28,930.
