AUGUSTA -- Two city men suspected of burglary were behind bars Tuesday afternoon following a foot chase by police.
Ralph Mosher, 24, of Augusta and formerly of Litchfield, was charged with burglary, theft and violation of probation.
He was in Kennebec County jail Tuesday night in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Keegan Brooks, 19, was charged with burglary and theft and jailed in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Augusta Police Lt. Chris Massey said the department received a report of a burglary in progress at about 2 p.m. Tuesday at 49 North St.
"When officers arrived, two suspects fled the residence, and after a short foot chase both were taken into custody," Massey said.
Massey said that five officers responded to the scene.
He said that the two men were suspected of stealing jewelry at the residence.
