The stop, which took place Interstate-95 South in York involved a tractor-trailer registered in Texas, state police said in a news release. The driver, Jose Javier Perez, 46, and passenger, Jhon Rivera-Ramirez, 35, were detained. The two were found to be in possession of false logs, for which Javier Perez was arrested. A subsequent search of the trailer yielded a cash cache of more than $1 million.

"In recent years, the smuggling of bulk currency has become the preferred method for criminals to move illicit proceeds across our borders," state police said in a news release.
