Motorcycle crash injures woman

Kennebec Journal Staff

A Lewiston woman was injured Monday when her motorcycle crashed into a turning vehicle on U.S. Route 202 in Monmouth around 6 p.m.

Monmouth police said 21-year-old Olga Romanov was traveling south on Route 202 on her Suzuki motorcycle when a Honda driven by 68-year-old Clifford Cox of Winthrop pulled out of a pizzeria parking lot and into her path.

Romanov struck the driver's door of the Honda and was pinned between the car and the motorycle. Officer Clint Childs said Romanov was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with substantial injuries.

No charges are expected from the crash, said Childs, nor are drug or alcohol thought as causes. Childs did note Cox was operating without insurance.
