FARMINGTON -- Two New Sharon men have been charged in connection with an early October break-in and furniture theft at a Wilton Road furniture store.

The men, Robert Danforth, 47, and Fred Lowell Jr., 22, were arrested Thursday and charged with the Oct. 6 burglary at Bouffard's Furniture on Wilton Road, according to police Detective Mark Bowering.

Furniture stolen from the store was found in three apartments in New Sharon after police got a tip, Bowering said.

Seven tables, five barstools and a toolbox were stolen from the store's storage room during the Oct. 6 burglary, he said.

Farmington Sgt. Ed Hastings was tipped off Wednesday night about the stolen furniture and two men, and got a search warrant. On Thursday morning, Hastings, Bowering and two Franklin County sheriffs deputies found the stolen furniture in a search of the New Sharon apartments.

Danforth was arrested at one of the apartments about 1 p.m. and Lowell was arrested at his workplace about 2 p.m., Bowering said.

The men were both take to the Franklin County Detention Center. Danforth's bail was set at $500 cash. Lowell's bail was set at $2,000, unsecured.

The furniture, some of it damaged, has been returned to Bouffard's.
