Harmon lost by 33 votes to Democrat Brian Jones of Freedom for House District 45. The unofficiall tally was 2,252 to 2,219. The district also includes Burnham, Knox, Montville, Thorndike, Troy and Unity.

The recount in the two races has yet to be scheduled, according to the news release. Recounts in the seven other races begin today. Four other Republicans and three Democrats requested recounts, according to the news release. The deadline for filing a recount request is 5 p.m. today.

Secretary of state staff members and representatives from each candidate will manually review each ballot to find an official vote total. The recounts are open to the public and are held in Augusta at the Department of Public Safety headquarters, 45 Commerce Drive (off Civic Center Drive in north Augusta). Maine State Police collect and secure district ballots for each recount.
