Firefighters received a call at 10:17 p.m. and it took about an hour and a half to get the fire under control, said Skowhegan Fire Department firefighter Linwood Dorson, who was one of those who responded to the call.
Dorson said people were at the camp during the day but had gone into town for the night and no one was there when the fire was reported. He said the camp belongs to Sonny and Brenda Artzer, of Trevett, which is in the Boothbay area.
He said no one was injured although it was a "good size" fire and the camp was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office in Augusta, Dorson said.
Firefighters from Canaan, Cornville, Madison, Noridgewock and Skowhegan helped at the scene.
