MEA to discuss teacher evaluation rules at Jan. 28 meeting
AUGUSTA -- The Maine Education Association will hold a public hearing about proposed teacher evaluation rules from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Cross Office Building, Room 103, 111 Sewall St.
The committee will consider the evaluation rules that are proposed in L.D. 1858. Educators are expected to voice their concerns about the teacher evaluation rules, which call for measuring success based largely on student test scores, according to a news release.
Two will co-chair workforce committee
AUGUSTA -- Two central Maine legislators have been named co-chairmen of a special legislative committee that will work to develop legislation to strengthen the state's workforce.
Senate Majority Leader Seth Goodall, D-Richmond, and House Majority Leader Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, will lead the Joint Select Committee on Maine's Workforce and Economic Future. In addition to improving the state workforce, the committee will look for ways to help the state's economic engines and small businesses, according to a news release from the Office of the Senate President.
Other committee members will be named next week.
