PITTSTON — The Pittston Town Committee will hold a caucus from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Town Office.

There will be an election of delegates and alternates to the state convention and members to the Kennebec County Republican Committee. There will also be preparation for upcoming elections.

The state convention is May 5 and 6 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Chelsea selectmen setgoal-setting workshop

CHELSEA — Selectmen will hold a goal-setting workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Chelsea Elementary School.

At its meeting Wednesday the board also:

• scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, Feb. 22, to discuss a proposed fireworks ordinance and authorized the town manager to take pre-orders for Earth Machine compost bins;

• adopted the town clerk job description on Wednesday and accepted the resignation of Town Clerk Cynthia Burnham;

• reviewed the town report request for proposal and now need to determine if it is cost effective to mail out town reports prior to the annual town meeting in June.

• appointed Waldo Gilpatrick of West Gardiner as the town’s alternate code enforcement officer while the town looks for a permanent one to replace Bob St. Pierre, who recently resigned. Town Manager Scott Tilton said two finalists were recently interviewed.

Tilton said there is still a need for someone tofill a vacant RSU 12 school board seat.
