WINTHROP — Nomination papers for the Nov. 8 election will be available Monday at the Town Office.

To be on the ballot, candidates must return nomination papers to the town clerk by 5 p.m. Sept. 23 with signatures from at least 25 but no more than 100 registered Winthrop voters.

Officials in Winthrop whose terms expire this year are Town Councilors David Rheaume and Sarah Fuller; Board of Education directors Mark King and John Mitchell; and library trustees Paul Cottrell, Lorraine Fleury and Margaret Kenney.

All town terms are for three years.

Manchester planners to meet Tuesday

MANCHESTER — The Planning Board meets Tuesday to consider multiple projects.

A public hearing is planned for Jason Black’s request for a special exception permit modification so he can expand the use of his motor vehicle repair business at 55 Summerhaven Road to include auto sales.

Board members will hear two applications within the shoreland zone: One for a structure expansion by Deborah Marston at 53 Pine Cove Road; and one from Michelle Thibeault to demolish and replace a structure at 57 Chapman Drive.

Also scheduled Tuesday, when planners meet at 7 p.m. at the Manchester Town Office, is a pre-application meeting for a site review permit for a change of use at 1043 Western Ave. for Peter McDonald’s proposed professional service consultant business.

And Gene Green is seeking new approval for the Equestrian Estates subdivision, which, according to Code Enforcement Officer Paul Mitnik, has an expired permit.

China wetlands committee to meet

CHINA — The Wetlands Study Committee meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Town Office.

There are two items on the Wetlands Study Committee agenda: Discussion of the town’s shoreland septic system compliance ordinance and a critique of the 60-page Bohlen report on selected wetlands in the China Lake watershed.
