AUGUSTA — Augusta police chief for last 18 years, Wayne McCamish is retiring, he announced tonight at a City Council meeting.
The resignation, effective in December, is meant to retain health benefits that currently are preferable for retirees, but which will change after recent contract negotiations with city employees, McCamish told the City Council.
